Thrift shop needs shoppers, donors

SOUTHBURY — Twenty-five organizations were aided by the Upper Room Thrift Shop at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 262 Main St. North, in 2011.

Recipients included the Southbury Fuel Bank and a young person with a learning problem.

Also, ” We have been able to contact a group that provides prom dresses for girls who would not have the money to buy such an expensive item. Perhaps one of our dresses, handbags, or evening shoes will help,” said Michele Guillette, administrative associate at the church.

“When sorting your spring clothes, think of the Upper Room. We welcome gently used clothing in all sizes, as well as household items, linens, books and jewelry,” Guillette said. Donations are needed.

The Upper Room Thrift Shop is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday and Saturday. For more information, call the church office at 203-264-8150 or stop in.

”We also sold a beautiful wedding gown to a petite woman who did not have the money for a dress.”

The shop is gearing up for Easter and spring, but it still has winter clothing for any cold days ahead.
